Court Attendances

ILB - Independent Law Brokers provides experienced representatives to attend Courts, for all types of Hearings.

Since 1993, ILB representatives have worked alongside a great many of the most highly respected Practitioners; on the preparation, analysis and hearings of criminal cases, in both the Crown Court and the Court of Appeal.

WHICH COURTS AND PRISONS CAN ILB COVER?

We cover all courts in the Country.

We can have someone in a Court in the North West at very short notice.

We have extensive coverage of courts throughout England and Wales but will normally need some notice.

We are at Chester, Bolton, Manchester and Preston Crown Courts on a very regular basis. We are in Liverpool Crown Court every day so instructions can be phoned through at court. Our main office is situated close to the Liverpool Combined Court Centre.

We provide representatives (grades B or C) depending on the type of case, you can decide what grade you require. 

Hearings/Daily outcomes are relayed to you by telephone at conclusion. Attendance Notes are e-mailed, faxed or posted.

ILB staff attend Court, prison etc as your representative. Clients appreciate a representative being at court. Counsel are also asking more and more for someone to be at court to cover conferences, changes of plea and to deal with witnesses. The obvious benefit is to reduce the risk of losing clients to another firm.

It is not always practical for you to attend every hearing. But even when there is a mention it could be at the bottom of the list and full days billing could be lost by non-attendance. Unexpected sickness, holidays etc. could leave you under resourced, for court or conferences. It is always worth a telephone call to ILB to see if we can arrange cover.

Watching Briefs / Certificates for a Noter

Pleas entered & co defendants having a trial? Judges will often grant certificates for someone to note long cases.

ILB can provide a representative as a NOTER if you need someone to note the whole of the evidence or specific parts of Prosecution witnesses, defence case, summing up etc. (Discounted Rates for long cases)

PRIVATE INSTRUCTIONS

We will attend as a note taker at hearings for interested parties, on a private paid basis. ILB attend watching briefs at courts nationwide detailing outcomes on related hearings via e-mail and telephone call on day of hearing

Prison Visits

It is very important to have presence in prisons and to make sure that regular visits take place. The disgruntled prisoner is the one who is waiting in visits with no one to visit them. Or the one left in their cell with no papers, waiting for their cell mate to come back with a full copy of the depositions. Think about the number of times you have heard a client of yours say “my last brief didn’t care, they must have made loads out of me”

ILB can provide cover for all prisons, as bookings will normally require 48hr notice for legal visits we are able to accommodate all prisons/detention centres.

Preparation

Best use of existing staff often involves them being out of the office. Utilisation of ILB for case support is cost effective and frees up other office staff who would be better used in other areas of the case

Telephonic Analysis

ILB is a fore-runner in the design and presentation of Colour Coded Caller to Caller telephonic analysis. (CCCC) has been presented and used in a number of very high profile cases, by solicitors who have instructed ILB to carry out the work in Customs & Excise prosecuted Organised Crime and Murder cases.

The CCCC system has been adopted by all the prosecuting authorities and is now used widely in Prosecutions which involve telephonic evidence and Cell site analysis. Further to that the system (CCBB) has been adapted for money laundering/POCA investigations.
In case preparation there have often been call for telephonic analysis to distinguish alibi or connection evidence.

Investigations, Plans and Photographs

We currently undertake investigations, surveillance and provide site reports and plans and photographs of crime scenes or locations in order to aid client cases or case presentation to Jury, in court.

ILB investigators undertake covert surveillance, examples are:-

·Cheating partner.
·Insurance company fraud
·Benefit Fraud inquiries.
·Problem neighbour-neighbourhood disputes.
·Tracing lost family or friends

Photographic evidence can be provided on still and video if required.

All Site reports and Plans and Photographs are well presented for court as required.
All evidence will be supported by way of s9 statement.
